Peter Giddings Racing

THESE PAGES PRESENT SOME OF THE ITEMS THAT PETER HAS WRITTEN THROUGH THE YEARS AND SOME OF HIS CORRESPONDENCE WITH VARIOUS PEOPLE

1960s

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Stanley Sears Trophy Meeting was held at Snetterton on Sunday, May 5, 1963. Peter drove his 1928 Frazer Nash in the 10-lap scratch race for vintage cars.

Peter writes: "More memories! Sad that Peter Binns passed away ... a dapper gentleman who usually drove immaculate OMs. I came in second in this race, beating out "Jonty" Williamson, John Miles (who became a pro driver), Barry Simpson (who later owned and wrecked my Frazer Nash), Bob Ashley (the fastest of the "chain gangers" ... but not on this day!), and Denis Kitchner in the FWD Alvis. Happy Days!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 26, 1963 Peter was at the Firle Hill Climb with his 1928 Frazer Nash competing in Class 7 for cars 1601 to 2000 cc

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peter drove his 1928 Frazer Nash at the Martini Trophy Meeting at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on July 6, 1963. Peter writes: More memories. Racing against Peter Brewer who reassembled a front engined Grand Prix Aston Martin or two, George Burton with the fearsome 3/4.5 litre Bentley, Tony Charnock whose father was the cartoonist, John Freeman with the Seaman 2-litre Aston Martin Spa Special, the Hon. Patrick Lindsay in his Alfa Romeo Monza, John Mudd with the Alfa Monza that later became mine, Peter Morley with the thundering 8-litre Bentley Special, etc. Happy Days!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Brands Hatch Trophy Race for Historic Racing Cars took place on March 30, 1964. Peter drove his 1928 Frazer Nash. Peter writes: "Bloody slippery! Typical British weather. Six cars spun out...out of contention. I finished fifth ahead of Donald Day in his ERA, Danny Margulies in the Connaught "A" Type, Ellis in the FWD Derby-Maserati, Le Sage in the 175 Alfa, Sid Day in an ERA, etc., ....so not bad."

Blanden 1-79

This letter to John Blanden was dated January 11, 1979. Peter is referring to a Brabham race car (F1-3-62) that was
apparently constructed to race in the Intercontinental series. It is not known if Peter ever acquired the car.
